This guide provides the step-by-step process of integrating your campaign with a WordPress site.

After going through this guide you will be able to:

  • Setup your UpViral Campaign
  • Add the Opt-in and Share widget into WordPress
  • Integrate your autoresponder with UpViral

Step 1 - Create Campaign in UpViral

To start off, login to UpViral Dashboard at the login link https://app.upviral.com

Once inside the Dashboard, from the top menu click the Create a Campaign option or the orange Create a Campaign button beside Search a Campaign. In the next screen provide the name of the campaign you want to create.

Once clicked you are asked to name you Campaign.

For this demo, I named it "Wordpress Test", then hit Create.

Now the next step is to create your Lead Capture page. You will be asked to choose whether it's "Run the Campaign on UpViral" or "Embed Into My Existing Tools".

As we are hosting this campaign on WordPress (for Lead pages and Share pages), please select "EMBED INTO MY EXISTING TOOLS"

A. Setup Lead Capture Widget

Every UpViral campaign starts by collecting the email address of the participants.

That's how we'll start creating your Lead Capture widget.

Then it will let you select your Template. (For this demo I selected the Blank Canvas)

It will then take you to the Template Editor.(You can edit the contents, background colours, button colours, etc...) After you make your Opt-in form beautiful and presentable, hit "Save" and then "Go Back".

You've now created your Lead Capture widget.

B. Setup Social Share Widget

Once your participants have opted-in to your campaign, they'll see the Social Share widget so they can start sharing.

Click Save & Next to proceed in setting up your Social Share Widget. Then select the "Embed a widget" because we will be using your WordPress site and not hosting on UpViral.

You then need to select your Social Share Widget Template. (For this demo I used the Berlin Demo)

It will then let you edit your Social Share widget template (the functions are not the same as Lead Capture editor, but you can modify the text contents, turn ON or OFF some social media share buttons.)

After you've made your changes, click SAVE and the GO BACK.

C. Social Appearance

This is where you set the text or content of your campaign and how or what will appear on social media when subscribers share their referral link.

D. Reward Points

Subscribers will collect points to unlock rewards or win prizes. You can specify what actions you'd like to reward, and how many points your subscribers get for each action.

E. Reward

Setting up rewards for your giveaway is optional. Your participants can unlock rewards by earning more points.

F. Sweepstakes

You can also run some Sweepstakes. This can be optional as well.

G. Email Notifications

In the Email Notifications section, you will define the different emails that will be sent out automatically. Typically, a giveaway contest is configured with the email when a user registers, someone signs up through their referral link and when they win a contest.

Using UpViral you can create the entire email message that will be sent out using your autoresponder.

H. Email Autoresponder

In this section, you will define the autoresponder you will be using for this giveaway. We assume that this is your first campaign. So first you need to add an Email Autoresponder. Hover on the "Plus" sign beside the dropdown selection of Email Autoresponder.

Select your autoresponder from the list and add a name to it. For this giveaway we are using MailChimp and the integration requires a Secret API Key to be added before you can start using it.

Most autoresponders with either require API key or UpViral will automatically direct you to their website to authorize it.

However, there is another way to add Email Autoresponders. See : (link here)

I. Advanced Settings

This setting is optional.

You can set Callback URL, Referral Tracking Domain, Terms and Condition, etc...

J. Installation

Step 1 of the Installation setup is important. You start by putting the URL of your WordPress site. (I suggest you put the exact URL of your Lead Capture or Opt-in page. We assume that you have already created the page on your WordPress site).

The Campaign URL is the URL where you want all your traffic to go.

Step 2 is optional.  It is the URL that redirects to a different Share Page URL.

Let's say you want to share different page instead of the same page that you use for Opt-in. Share Page URL does the trick.

For the Installation Code, we highly recommend you use the Widget. The HTML form is for the advanced users.

Step 2. Create Opt-in/Lead capture on WordPress

Now this process with setup our Opt-in./Lead Capture page and Share page on WordPress.

To start off,  login to your WordPress Admin Dashboard and create a new Page.

Go to Pages >> the Add New. Take not that you need to set the Content Editor to  "Text" mode so that we can put on our code snippet from UpViral.

Now, go back to your UpViral Campaign >> Install then copy mode.

Paste the code that you copied from your UpViral campaign to your newly created page. then Click Publish.

This is the page when you review it.

After signing up on the Opt-in form, the Social Share Template will be displayed on the same page without needing to reload the page whole.

If you want to use a different Share page, you need to create a new page on WordPress.

It's the same process when you create the Opt-in page. Create New Project >> go back to UpViral Installation >> Copy the Code and Paste it.

After publishing it, copy the permalink of your Share Page >> go back to UpViral Installation then paste the URL to Step 2 : Choose Share Page URL and then "Save URL's and Continue".

Now try to test your Opt-in page (to test either use Incognito mode or clear your browser's cache and cookies). You may notice that after you opt-in it will open the new page (specifically the Shae Page URL that you created) but with appended values.

At this point, your UpViral campaign is now integrated with your WordPress site.
