With UpViral, aside from the default name and email address fields, you can also send over custom fields you've created on your opt-in page to your autoresponder such as phone number, gender, etc. and especially referral invite links / personal invite links.
By doing this, UpViral can send over the referral links along with your leads' name and email information to your autoresponder list. Since you have this information on your autoresponder now, you can craft follow-up emails from your own auto-responder that includes your leads' unique referral link!
Since the exact usage of custom fields is different for every auto-responder, it is best to refer to your auto-responder documentation or support area. In order to use this feature, there are two things:
You will need to integrate your Autoresponder into UpViral first on the "Settings" tab.
You will need to add a field on your autoresponder for the referral link field which we will call REFURL in this article. (Ex. if you have a "Phone Number" field on your autoresponder and you're also collecting leads' phone numbers on your UpViral campaign, it's important that you have a "Phone Number" field first on your autoresponder so that you can make sure the phone numbers you get from UpViral are sent to your autoresponder's Phone Number field.)
From this point, we can then assume that your Autoresponder has been already added.
Getting the Referral Link with SendLane
Basically, there is no special step or additional values or fields that needs to be set up for SendLane. It will automatically capture the Personal Invite link.
1. Within the UpViral campaign, add SendLane as an Autoresponder. You'll go to Settings > Integrations > Autoresponder, and click Add new autoresponder. A popup will appear where you can select SendLane from the autoresponder dropdown menu.
2. From here, add a name for your autoresponder connection, and enter the information needed from your autoresponder.
NOTE:
- Sendlane Api Domain can be taken from the address bar
- To get API key and Hash key, click your name at the top right corner and go to Account Settings.
- Scroll down a bit and under Your Security Credentials.
3. Now, open your campaign by clicking "Open Campaign".
4. On the left-hand side, under "Advanced Settings", click on "Autoresponder".
5. Select your autoresponder from the dropdown and then the list where you want to send the leads to:
6. Finally, make sure the "Personal invite link" field is enabled and that there's a connected field for it for your autoresponder's referral link field.
7. Now, you can test your campaign by signing up to your own campaign and checking the email you received.
- Go to your campaign link by using an incognito window (preferred browser is Chrome) and sign up like a regular participant would.
- Go to Sendlane and click List.
Click the list managed in UpViral and open the email or the lead.
Under the Subscriber Profile, click Custom Fields.
From there, you can validate the referral link.
