In this article, you'll learn how to check whether your custom domain setup is configured properly.

When you're setting up your custom domain, it should have a "CNAME" redirect pointing to app.upviral.com as explained in this article How to use a custom domain name in a campaign

Here's how to check whether you've set it up correctly.

Step 1: Go to https://mxtoolbox.com/CNAMELookup.aspx This is a tool that's able to analyze your domain DNS records.

Step 2: Enter your custom domain and hit "CNAME lookup" if you've set it up correctly, you'll see a table with "CNAME" in the first column, and "app.upviral.com" in the 3rd column (see image below).

If you get a different result, it means you haven't configured your CNAME-redirect correctly. In that case, we suggest you try steps 1 and 2 again if it still does not work you'll need to contact your hosting provider and ask them to help you as each hosting company does it differently.

"I've set it up correctly, but it still does not work"

Once its correctly set up but it shows 404 error or security error when you try to access your lead page or campaign URL please follow the steps below:

Now we need to check if the SSL is installed or not. So, first go to Settings >Custom Domain. To know whether the SSL is installed or not we've provided these possible outcomes and solutions for you.

Case 1: In the image below you'll see an example of an SSL which is installed and working on your custom domain:

Case 2: If you see a red label like the image below, then the SSL is not installed, and in this case, it means that the CNAME is not added.

For Case 1 even after the SSL is installed and the domain does not work, please note that an SSL activation can take up to 24 to 48 hours to complete.

For Case 2, please refer to the above steps 1 and 2 for checking if the CNAME is installed or not for the domain.

If CNAME is installed and yet SSL is not installed or working then please delete the domain under Settings > Custom Domain and re-add the domain.
